Final Core Project. Project Outcomes; Poster & Exhibition.

I was originally planning on doing a transfer print of one of my images onto a top but this didn't work out so I chose to make a poster instead.

Final Core Project- Task 6; Band shoot 3.

The 3rd shoot I had with the band was a little different as they were writing a new song- they were more more concentrated and worked as a team in order to create the music to fit together and the singer putting lyrics forward and suggesting changes in the order of the song due to them. After creating the song the band relaxed and had a laugh which I used to my advantage and photographed to try get more free-time shots of them I particularly like the images I took of the bassist and the screamer joking around "singing along" with a cheesy old song and really going for it although the images were really dark I managed to create this grungy look with it which I think adds to the image. (The screamers lyrics are on his phone, this is why most of the time he's looking at it/has it out.)

^ The composition of this shot is what I think really makes it, all the instruments surrounding the one subject, his facial expression and lines- really shows the message I wanted to create very strongly. I also  like the contrast of light and dark in this picture. I'll most likely use this in the exhibition. What I'd change/do differently is the cropping of the image, I'd take it from a less zoomed in framing so that the eye would travel into the picture more freely and not have everything seeming to be "squished" into the framing.

^ This shot is a more obviously documentary style than the other shots, it's less obviously not as clear in message than the other images either but when informed of the importance of the contents- it fits well with the set. The framing of the shot makes a really abstract feel to the image, the composition of the wires vs phone timer and dark vs light is really eye catching. What I'd of done differently is exactly how dark the dark half is of the photo as the lighting in the room wasn't as good as it could have being.

^^ The two images above I really think fit the message I want to make, the band members are messing around and acting like goofs- having a laugh and just being friends which is overall really lovely to see as many bands want to give the impression of being too serious to their fans but they just want to be themselves and enjoy what they do.  What I'd change if I could is how grainy the images are- I personally dislike the quality issues but find it fits the rock aspect better then the clean-cut images.
^ This image expresses the stress of creating a new song, the confusion of trying to get parts to fit and it shows how much communication is needed to create something solid as both the bassist and the screamer are looking at the other members who are not in the framing. The pose of each subject expresses frustration and also being built up, ready to start playing anything that might help the production of the song. I'd prefer the image was taken closer in, more personal and putting more detail on the faces of the members.

^The angle of this photo is what makes it stand out from the others, it's taken from the floor and makes the band members look taller, more empowering and intimidating. The bassists stance and hair movement is another aspect which makes this image- I'd have changed the distance between the screamer and the bassist though and have them so none of them was cut off out of the framing if they were only that little bit closer I'd be much happier with the shot.

^ The raw, rocky feel to this image is really effective- it stands out from most of the other images I've taken because it's not as "clean", the gain, low lighting and blur really make it eye catching. What I'd change about the photo is how the drummer looks, he looks too shocked and I'd prefer him to be rocking out more- it would have made the picture that much better.

Task 6 overall photo evaluation;

Out of the three band rehearsal shoots I've done with the band I've found that the more "rocky" and "unclean" photos work better as band photography but since my aim was to document the band, what they stand for and are like as people- I think the mix of beauty shots, boisterous/playful shots and rocking out shots all work well together to produce the exact image of the band I was going for; that they love what they do and the music they play, they're very passionate and serious about it but at the same time they're funny and entertaining and not afraid to make a fool of themselves. I'm very happy with the message my images get across and the band are very happy with the images too- I'm looking forward to shooting there next gig and doing a location shoot with them.

Final Core Project; TASK 6; Band Shoot 2.

For the second rehearsal shoot I did with the band I was much more pleased with; the natural lighting was generally more stronger on this day, the singer/screamer came this time and everyone was much more used to being around the camera and making faces and giving me plenty of oportunaty to get some good shots. Plus at one point I instructed them of a composition to stand; as if I was the audience at a gig and told them to just "rock out" and got some more "composed"good shots. I also took some photographs of the band on the break and having a laugh during the rehearsal which I think is a good mix between the images of them playing and the images of them just hanging out and being boisterous. I'm very happy with the outcome of the images over all.

^ I kept this image in because it shows them setting up for rehearsals which is something I haven't included yet within the project- the content of this image is what I aimed to get even with the knowledge I pressed to take the picture too late and this is why the bassist is caught in movement- I'd change/do differently with this image is the timing mainly, I dislike how flat the image looks too because of the lighting and angle.

^^^
The three pictures above are possibly my favorite framing of all the rehearsal shots I did with the band, The "live" set up of the images really gives the image depth, theres so much to take in and it's filled with energy and a real sense of togetherness and enjoyment comes off them. I'll defiantly be using one of these in the exhibition. What I'd change about the images is the composition in the first image of the three the drummer is blocked out which is why in the other images I'd asked them to move so that the drummer could be seen. On all of the images I'd change if it was even possible how close I was stood to the band, I'd prefer a more free feeling images rather then "squished" into frame but unfortunately where I was stood was as far away as I could go without not being in the room with them.

^ again the live-set up of this image I really think make it, the connection between the bassist and the guitarist is really shown here- the different levels in the picture I think really creates a laid back, rocky feel to it. What I'd change is the composition and framing a little, I'd get more of the guitarist in it and I'd move him slightly to the side but not too much, just enough to see the drummer a little better and also I'd prefer the drummer's face to be visible in the image.
^ This image is one of my favorite ones I took overall I think, the focus, the landscape format, the composition, framing and lighting all work together to create a very documentary styled image which is eye catching and full of depth, i would like to change a few things about it though if I could; I'd prefer the composition to be a little different; have the singer forward a little, less hidden behind the bassist- I'd have the bass head down a little and have the drummers face visible also I'd try to include the guitars if it didn't effect the image too much.

^ This image is capturing the moment after a joke between the screamer and the guitarist which is why theres a cheeky feeling to this image, the friendship side of being in a band shows strongly here. The closeness of the band members signifies the closeness of their friendship and how connected/in time they have to be when playing. I'd change the angle of the image so that you can see the guitarists expression more.
